Five people were arraigned in a Chuka court in Tharaka Nithi County to face a charge of murdering a local chief and a police boss.

As the officer was being hacked, his colleagues shot in the air to disperse the mob. The police report said a suspect was seriously injured in the incident and was taken to hospital. Mr Kinyua was pronounced dead on arrival at Tenri Hospital in Embu County.
