Sofapaka cut Gor Mahia’s lead at the top of the table to 6 points following a 3-2 win over Posta Rangers in a match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. With Gor Mahia collecting points left right and center, John Baraza’s men needed to win, which they did.

Batoto Ba Mungu went ahead through John Avire in the 27th minute. Umaru Kasumba scored his 16th goal of the season to double Sofapaka’s lead 2 minutes into the second half. George Maelo added a third just 3 minutes later to put his side in cruise control.

Posta Rangers would however up the tempo through Francis Oliech in the 56th minute to give the relegation-threatened a glimmer of hope. They pulled yet another one back in the 71st-minute trough Francis Nambute setting the stage for a grandstand finish with a remarkable comeback on the cards.

Sofapaka, however, held on to claim the 3 points which put them two wins away from matching Gor Mahia’s points, though K’Ogallo still have to play on Thursday. Rangers, on the other hand, remain deep in relegation trouble with 2 points, just 5 above the dreaded zone.
