“It Was Ugly” Messi Dismayed By Fans Treatment of Coutinho

Sensational Barcelona star Lionel Messi was a happy man after scoring two fantastic goals for Barcelona against stubborn Liverpool but was angered by the way Philippe Coutinho was treated.

The Brazilian who Barcelona signed last year for £146m last season endured a miserable evening and was substituted for Nelson Semedo.

The 26-year-old was whistled by the home supporters as he departed the pitch, amid speculation that Barcelona will attempt to offload him this summer.

However, Messi who scored two goals for Barcelona was not happy and rushed immediately after the end of the match to Coutinho’s defence.

“This is a time when we have to be more united than ever, both as players and fans,” he said immediately after full-time.

“This is something we have to achieve together and it is not the moment to criticize anybody.

“It is ugly to see [the crowd] treat a team-mate like that.”

Barcelona are now the favorites to proceed to the final next month with the second leg of the semi-final set to played at Anfield next Tuesday.
