How Ksh 135 made a man to kill his 5-year-old Son

Cases of murder have been on the rise in Kenya. However, some of the reasons that lead these murders leave Kenyans Shocked!

Could you imagine someone killing his own son over a mere Sh 100 bob? Well, Police in Kirinyaga County are looking for a 36-year-old man who allegedly killed his 5-year-old son over Ksh.135.

According to the man’s wife, the boy — Maxine Munene — was sent to the shop with Ksh.200 to buy milk, sukumawiki, tomatoes and other items, which according to the father, would consume about Ksh.65 — therefore he expected a change of Ksh.135.

The boy instead brought back Ksh.35 only causing the father to strike him several times with a rungu before strangling him to death.

When the 5-year-old passed out, the man reportedly turned his anger on his seven-year-old daughter hitting her on the head with the rungu before he escaped.

The mother, Madrine Wanja, was at the farm when she heard the commotion and children screaming.

“I had gone to the farm and I heard the children screaming. When I rushed to the house I met my son lying on the floor while my daughter was in a bad condition,” said Ms Wanja.

Confirming the incident, area chief Joseph Kariuki Ndege said police had launched a hunt for the suspect.

The girl was admitted at Kimbimbi Sub-County Hospital while the body of the boy was taken to Kerugoya Referral Hospital mortuary.
