What next for cornered Godfrey Osotsi?

Nominated Member of Parliament Godfrey Osotsi on Tuesday suffered a blow after the High Court overturned a decision by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) to reinstate him as Amani National Congress (ANC) party Secretary General.

High Court judge Cecelia Githua ruled that the PPDT was wrong in entertaining the case by Osotsi, adding that he had not exhausted the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanism.

“The decision of the tribunal dated 12/4/2018 is set aside in its entirety,” ruled the court.

The PPDT had previously granted Osotsi’s prayers and reinstated him as ANC Secretary General after he had moved to contest his removal terming it as irregular.

ANC, however, filed an appeal at the High Court challenging that decision, following which Osotsi’s lawyers filed an application for a judicial review of the process the party followed in kicking him out.

In March this year, at a Special National Executive Council (NEC), ANC, which is led by Musalia Mudavadi, adopted a report by its disciplinary committee recommending the expulsion of the nominated MP over claims of misuse of the party’s funds when he served as Secretary General before the 2017 General Election.
