It’s now clear that the cordial relationship between deputy president William Ruto and Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu is no more.
Waititu, a close confidant to Ruto is said to have fallen out after several accusations of corruption which is said to taints the DP reputation.
A source has hinted that the deputy president advisers requested him to shoulder off Waititu unless his reputation is destroyed.
Already Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Kiambu county bosses have seven days to respond to anti-graft agency audit queries or risk arrest.
This follows an EACC demand letter served to the county CEO/secretary. .
The county bosses are expected to provide documents and respond to concerns raised by EACC. “It is part of the investigations and they might be guilty or innocent,” an investigating officer.
“The EACC will forward its findings to the ODPP who can make clearance, observation or amendments,” he said.
Last week detectives from the Special Crime Prevention Unit have arrested Kiambu County Chief Finance Officer Faith Njeri and her driver Harrison Kungu.
During the arrest, the Detectives who were working on a tip-off recovered ksh6.7 million from the vehicle.
The vehicle which bears the Kenya government number plates is also in the hands of the detectives.
According to our sources, the Kiambu governor Ferdinard waititu who was at the time of the arrest in his county office is on the run after he was informed that the detectives were heading to his office to arrest him.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, on Tuesday, revealed that he was willing to work with Deputy President William Ruto during the 2022 presidential race.
He, however, insisted that he would only work with Ruto on condition that he would not be forced to take up the running mate position.
