Dismiss me before I use your machinery- Asbel Kiprop to NPS

IG Mutyambai meets Asbel Kiprop after worrying social media posts

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai on Tuesday met former Olympic Champion Asbel Kiprop at the National Police Service headquarters in Nairobi.

This comes barely three days after the athlete took to social media to publish worrying posts following a recent decision by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Disciplinary Tribunal to ban him for four years over an anti-doping rule violation.

“I pray to [the] National Police Service to dismiss me now before I use their machinery to earn justice for myself. IAAF, kindly come take your medals, I do not need any [of them] on the walls of my house,” wrote Mr. Kiprop, a police officer by profession.

The former 1500 meters world champion’s post triggered panic with members of the public urging relevant authorities to swing into action before he “does something regrettable”.

IG Mutyambai, during the Tuesday meeting, reminded Kenyans that Mr. Kiprop“is our hero. We must never forget him.”
