Embakasi East Legislator Babu Owino has softened his stance on Uganda’s dictator President Bobi Wine and asked him to save his legacy as respected Pan Africanist.

Babu, a close friend to Uganda’s firebrand politician Bobi Wine has asked Museveni to respect his legacy by releasing Bobi Wine who is currently being held at Luzira Prisons.

Bobi Wine was arrested on Monday when he voluntarily went to the CID headquarters in Kampala. He was later charged with holding an illegal public assembly, an offence he allegedly committed in July, 2018.

“This comes barely two days after he was placed under house arrest without justification or due process. Freedom and Democracy are under siege in Uganda and all those who hold these values dear must speak out!” Babu said through a statement on his Facebook Page.

The Kenyan politician has warned Museveni that his kind of politics have no future and will lead him down the same path as recently ousted Sudan despot Omar Al Bashir.

” I appeal to President Museveni to rid himself of this archaic politics of persecution. It has no future. It will only lead him down the same path as Gadaffi, Mubarak, Bouteflika and most recently, Omar Al Bashir.”

Babu’s latest message is far from the advice he had given Ugandans earlier in the day, where he asked them to kick the dictator out of their country.

Babu and museveni, do not see eye to eye. Last year, Uganda said that they had banned the first time Parliamentarian from their country.

The purpose of this letter is to make it known that Honorable Babu Owino is officially declared as persona non grata within the borders of Uganda and will not be permitted entry without special clearance from the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” reads part of a letter sent to Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma in November 2018.
