Barcelona ‘have not been slow’ to respond to comments from Jurgen Klopp that ‘did not sit well’ at the club.
Klopp has been criticized in the Catalan media for referring to the Nou Camp as “just a stadium…no temple of football” in a recent interview with DAZN.
Liverpool will visit Barca for the first time since 2007 in Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg – Klopp has never managed at the stadium before.
And the German’s attempts to play down the occasion have been poorly received in Spain.
Sport Witness have kindly quoted both Catalan newspapers Sport and Mundo Deportivo as suggesting that Barca issued a response on Monday.
Sport says Klopp’s ‘words did not sit well,’ leading to a ‘forceful’ response from the club on social media in a post including the word ‘temple’.
Sport adds that the situation has given the game ‘one more incentive, at least, in terms of declaration of intent’. Klopp has ‘warmed the tie’.
Tasty.
