Turkana bids goodbye to hunger

Residents of Turkana having been living under abject poverty conditions which are filled with hunger and many other socio-economic problems.

But a ray of bright light is now set to illuminate Turkana.

Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok has today signed a five year deal with World Food Programme. The 5-year agreement witnessed by WFP
Country Director and Representative Annalisa Conte seeks to align efforts towards achieving the joint goal of attaining food security as outlined in the CIDP(2018-2022) .

The County Government will take lead of implementation of the joint programme whose objectives include to develop the capacity to implement programmes to reduce poverty& hunger; improve market access and supply chain; strengthen communities’ resilience to climatic shocks.

It will also address malnutrition among vulnerable communities; identify and fix challenges in health supply chain; and seek greater efficiency in refugee interventions which will include support of the socio-economic integration programme.
