Most Kisumu residents have been disappointed by Hon Raila Odinga after hard truth hit them that SGR will not reach to Kisumu.
According to the Ministry of foreign affairs the SGR deal was not among the key priorities to President Kenyatta’s tour to China.
But the dream of making SGR reach Kisumu upto Malaba is not dead.
According to state house head of communication Nzioka Waita the deal is still on.
Nzioka speaking to Checkpoint on KTN with Tony Gachoka assured the people that the deal is still on but the government will not necessarily depend on the China Loan.
For the SGR to reach Kisumu to begin according to Nzioka, neighbouring countries who are set to enjoy the fruits of it should also chip in.
Uganda and Rwanda are expected to have a round table meeting with Kenya in order to discuss how the SGR project will be executed. But the negotiations will be intricate and long.
So the time line for building of SGR to pass past Kisumu is not clear upto now.
