NYS boss on the spot as trainees brutally kill suspects for stealing his phone

In a rather shocking story, NYS trainees on Sunday beat two men to death for stealing a phone belonging to their boss.

The incident reportedly happened at Lambwe NYS Camp in Suba South, Homa Bay County, where the two had been frog-matched to answer questions regarding the missing phone.

The two, Hesbon Nyamwea and Geoffrey Onjoki and the said senior NYS officer were reportedly taking alcohol at a local bar on Saturday night when the phone was stolen.

The trainees then raided the houses of the two casual labourers and beat them to death using crude weapons after they reportedly failed to recover the phone from them.

According to Citizen, the deceased persons’ employer, John Nyangweso, has accused the trainees of lynching the two without giving them time to explain what they knew about the missing phone.

Security officials led County Commissioner Irungu Macharia and County Police Commander Esther Seroney on Monday visited the camp to probe the incident.

Still in Homabay, Police are holding two suspects who were arrested with military uniforms within Sindo Township in Suba South Sub-County.

Suba South Sub-county Police Commander Richard Cheruiyot said the suspects; Harrison Ochieng’ and Manfred Nyaronyi Mirongo, were arrested by detectives acting on a tip off from members of the public.

Police officers raided the suspects’ house near Sindo Trading Centre and recovered several pairs of military uniforms, two pairs of military boots, one pair of flat shoes and a military bag.

According to the police commander, the uniforms nabbed were confirmed to be genuine military fatigue with the service number and a name tag of a military officer who could not be immediately identified.
