Maina Kamanda is currently the talk of town after being bashed by governor Mike Sonko in church on Sunday.
The former Starehe MP, turned a church service into a political rally to bash DP William Ruto, saying that even a class two pupil knows the most corrupt person in Kenya.
With more than 30 years in Kenyan politics, Kamanda has a huge following and, and commands respect in Mt. Kenya. There have been talks that he could run for governor in 2022.
Though he is a big name in Nairobi, his age and method of politics will be a huge hindrance if word of his planned ambition to dethrone Mike Sonko is true.
During his time in the National Assembly, Kamanda has never introduced a motion on the floor of the house.
he has a bad political record through his 30 years in politics with very few developmental milestones.
In May 2018, Kamanda was controversially stripped of the Jubilee ticket in the Starehee by-elections after an appeal from Jaguar, who argued that the former MP had rigged the elections.
Kamanda is now the unofficial chair of the Kieleweke team, a faction of the Jubilee Party that is hell-bent on ensuring Ruto does not rise to State House.
He has since been lobbying for a common vision in the voter-rich region through popular vernacular stations. It’s believed that he is one of the main politicians plotting for the creation of a new Political party which will represent Mt Kenya.
Political analysts have argued most of his political strategies are outdated and risky for developing countries.
In August last year, Kamanda was part of a group of mourners who were attacked by bees during a funeral in Laikipia.
