A Homabay County official died at the gate of a chief in Homabay shortly after a fatal head-on collision with an oncoming matatu, Sunday evening.
The County official who has since been identified as Enock Kopiyo is said to have been cruising alone in his car towards Chabera when his car collided head-on at a bend near area chief’s gate.
Atela location chief, Peres Muga confirmed the accident, adding that the county officer died right at his gate adjacent to Atela Primary School.
A few passengers in the matatu were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital while the two vehicles were towed to Othoro Police Station.
The body of the deceased Enock was transferred to Rachuonyo Sub-County Hospital immediately from the scene.
