Over the years, the internet has helped fake death stories go viral within a matter of hours, fooling the average person (and sometimes even close friends of the celeb in question) into believing that yet another beloved star has shuffled off this mortal coil.
Well one of the best East African female comedian Anne Kansiime fell a victim of death rumours on Sunday by a certain blog called canada-tv3.com. The blog alleged that the prominent Ugandan comic had drowned with her lover, Skylanta.
The ‘breaking’ news story alleged that:
Ugandan celebrities, Kansiime Anne and Skylanta have drowned in Canada in what police are calling a “case of misadventure”.
The accident took place at Lake Ontario, Canadian province of Ontario, according to Police statement.
The Ugandan Embassy representative reported to family members that Kansiime Anne and her fiance, Skylanta, were fishing on April 28, when Kansiime fell into the water. She was in distress and Skylanta jumped into the water to assist her. According to the Embassy, both were pulled from the water but could not be resuscitated.
But the story is a fabrication according to Kansiime’s lover, Skylanta. He wrote on his Instagram page:
The only thing I will be drowning in is your love !!!

The caption was accompanied by an image of the two together. Many of her fans were rightfully distressed at the fake news but with Skylanta’s message, many calmed down.
