Athletics Kenya Turn A Blind Eye To Asbel Kiprop

Tension is simmering at the Athletics Kenya offices after the body was bashed for ignoring the challenges the athlete is undergoing.

Saturday, Kiprop took to his social media platforms to express his frustrations after he was handed a 4-year ban from competitive athletics.

This was after the athlete tested positive for doping. The Anti-doping body expressed that Kiprop had samples of Erythropoietin  (EPO) had been found in his blood.

Kiprop had hired one of the best lawyers in Kenya to contest the decision to no success.

In February, Deputy President William Ruto apparently threw Kiprop under the bus after indicating that athletes found doping are a disgrace not only to themselves but to the country.

Kiprop surrendered himself to the police Saturday after a search was launched to determine his whereabouts, and disarm him.

This was after he requested the Police service to dismiss him from discharging his duties.

In the same platform, Kiprop also asked the Olympics board to come and take back their medals, as he no longer needed them on his house walls.

The tweets evoked mixed reactions with the Kenya Inspector General of Police urging Kiprop to seek counselling.

However, the Deputy Inspector General of Police said that the athlete was out of order, and that stern disciplinary measures would be taken against him.

“We don’t condone such behaviour from our officers. Channels of addressing personal grievances are provided in the NPS rules and regulations and firm administrative action will be taken,” said Mr Kiget.

A section of Kenyans stood with the athlete, who has been having a string of misfortunes since he parted with his wife after racy photos of him appeared online kissing another lady in his car.

Earlier on, Kiprop had hit and killed a woman as he cruised in his new BMW SUV.
