Nick Mwendwa Confirms AFCON Reward Scheme For Players

Participating in the African Cup of Nation (AFCON) is one of the greatest honours in African football.

Kenya will be taking part in the tournament set to take place in Egypt from 21st June to 19th July for the sixth time and for the first time after fifteen years.

To make the experience memorable to players and keep them motivated ahead of their historical engagement, a lot has been set in place and almost ready for the big return.

Football Kenya Federation(FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has confirmed, during his interview with “Sema na Citizen” show that the team will have a residential camp in France from 31st May to 18th April and everything has been paid for already. All foreign-based players will hit camp directly from their bases.

The 23 players who will make it to the final squad will each receive Kshs. 750,000 bonus before gracing the tournament. Should Kenya win AFCON, players will share 120million shillings, while 180million will be for the federation.

The president has categorically hinted that No friendly matches have been confirmed yet. However, they declined offers from Tunisia and Egypt, which were to be played on 17th May. Negotiations are still ongoing and, by Tuesday next week, we shall have known our build-up opponents.

The federation has procured New Kits for the national team and will be available from tomorrow. The new kit will be Macron. Every Player will wear a Suit when going to Egypt. Concerning replicas, the president said nothing…

To curb match-fixing at national team level, FKF has instituted measures that involve players’ sensitization, which is already in place.

All eyes are on whether the promises will stand.
