Klopp’s ‘Solomonic Wisdom’ Diffuses Salah-Milner Tension

Jurgen Klopp is arguably one of the best football managers of our time.

His mentality towards his players, the passion not to forget his after-match comments.

Liverpool players can attest they get more inspiration from their coach both on and off the field.

Many saw what happened on Sunday when Mohammed Salah and James Milner were fighting over the penalty against Cardiff City.

Milner converted from 12 yards just moments after coming off from the bench with the Bluebirds captain Morrison bringing Salah down in the 18-yard box.

It was Milner’s fifth successful penalty kick of the season, and a second crucial one in the title race run-in following his winning goal at Fulham last month.

But it looked as though Salah – who has scored twice from the spot in 2018/19 – had wanted to take the kick himself.

However, during his interview, Klopp wisely addressed the issue- a good way of avoiding players conflict.

The German only hailed Milner’s power when firing a penalty.

“He’s like a machine in these moments,”

“He trains them and he is not the only one. Mo is getting better and better and better.

“Milly is experienced. He has had important penalty shoot-outs in his life. He knows it’s all about how you keep your body in the right position and the right technique and then done.

“He has also missed a penalty in a pretty important game if I’m right but he’s like a machine. He switches off all emotions and puts the ball in the net.

“That’s the way to do it.”

Milner has played a key role in Liverpool wins and the Reds have never lost any game that James Milner scores a goal.

Klopp’s boys will be looking forward to keeping alive their Premier League title hopes when they meet Huddersfield on Friday.
