Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was arrested Friday morning along with his former Chief of Staff George Wainaina for graft probe.
According to sources, Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) is probing alleged illegal payment of KSh68M to a law firm.
Kidero is also being accused of money laundering.
The EACC has been investigating allegations over irregular payment made to Wachira Mburu, Mwangi and Company advocates purporting that it was irregular fees.
DPP Noordin Haji said he found sufficient evidence to support criminal charges against Kidero, Wainaina, former Nairobi City Council Acting Director Legal Affairs Aduma Joshua Owuor and former mayor John Ndirangu.
According to EACC Kyavee Holdings Limited never existed and therefore, had no legal capacity to sue the county.
Also set to be charged are Acting Deputy Director Internal Audit Nairobi County Manasseh Karanja and Principal Accountant Nairobi County Philomena Kavinja. Others are accountants Ng’ang’a Mung’ai,
Charity Ndiritu, Peterson Njiru, Ekaya Alumasi, James Mbugua, Elizabeth Nderitu and Alice Njeri.
However, a section of Kenyans believe its a plot to frustrate the former governor if the number of his arrests is anything to go by.
