Are we witnessing the rebirth of Bobi Wine? It seems the firebrand politician has decided to take the rebel approach in his bid to outclass Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

On Thursday, the Kydando East legislator sneaked from his heavily guarded home in Wakiso District in the middle of the night to attend the burial of
former Bugiri District chairperson Siraji Lyavala. The politician has been under house arrest since Monday.

“I had to find a way of attending the burial of our patriotic elder Haji Siraji Samanya Lyavaala in Bugiri. No matter how much the regime tries to keep us apart, we shall always find a way of coming together,” Bobi Wine posted on Facebook.

On Thursday evening, the politician received a letter from the police asking him to avail himself at Katwe Police Station for questioning on his alleged involvement in inciting violence and unlawful assembly.

But the politician has politely turned down the invitation, saying he will not respond to the summons because he has been enduring a very tedious and stress-filled schedule.

He sent his lawyer Lubega Ssegona to represent him.

Ssegona, also a fellow legislator, said that Bobi Wine had a long trip to Bugiri where he attended the burial and for this, he needs more time for himself.

He also says that police had all the time to get a statement from him while they were putting him under house arrest.

It seems we are seeing a different type of Bobi Wine. A Bobi Wine who is not ready to play by the book.
