It’s been almost three years since Sony launched its last PlayStation console, and unsurprisingly, fans are itching to see what’s next.
Now, Sony has given us a hint about when the PlayStation 5 could be released – and sadly there’s still a while to wait.

Reporter Takahishi Mochizuki has transcribed a conversation from Sony’s latest earnings calls, which suggests that the PS5 won’t hit shelves until late 2020.
The report says that ‘no next-gen PlayStation [would] launch over next 12 months.’
This indicates that the PlayStation 5 won’t be ready until at least April 2020.

And according to Sony’s own earnings forecasts, next financial year’s profits will be low, due to an ‘increase in development expenses for the next generation console.’
While this suggests that we’ve got a while to wait to see the PlayStation 5, several rumours have given a hint of what we can expect.
Features we expect to see in the console insole VR capabilities, 8K support, and a controller featuring a touchscreen.
