The former President Daniel Moi succeeded in keeping his family away from the buzzing Kenyan media and public life.
Very little is known about his the late first-born Jonathan Toroitich and other children sired in his estranged marriage with Lena Moi.
Here is the clear outlook of Moi’s children most of whom are leading a very quiet lifestyle.
1.Jennifer Jemutai Kositany
She is a businesswoman and was married to the Kositany family. Lives in Nandi hills after the death of her husband Stephen Kositany (Brother to Soi Mp Hon Caleb Kositany)
Together they owned businesses key among tea farms that had seen her be in the limelight fighting court battles over the “management” of a tea farm. She has maintained a low media profile thereafter. She was not blessed with children.
2. Jonathan Toroitich Kipkemboi Moi
He was a former rally driver. He cherished his Toyota Celica car.
He participated fully in many rally competitions such as Caltex Equator Rally which were held in Nairobi Kenya.
When the parents separated Jonathan stuck with the mother in Kabimoi . Thereafter, he has maintained a low media profile.
He died on 19th April 2019.
3. Raymond Kipruto Moi
He is a politician and the Member of Parliament for Rongai Constituency in Nakuru. He served for two terms and has maintained a low media profile thereafter.
4. John Mark Moi
He is a government geologist at Kenya ministry of environment and mineral resources.
5.Philip Moi
He is a retired army officer. He came into limelight when his estranged wife Rosanna Pluda, took him to court as a result of not providing monthly maintenance fee for her ex-wife and children.
This was after he allegedly suspected her wife illicit affairs with Hillary Alila. He has maintained a low media profile thereafter.
6. Doris Jepkorir Moi
She is the twin sister of Philip Moi. Although, she married, against her father’s approval, the son of Moi-era politician Kiptum Choge, Ibrahim, who worked as her brother Jonathan’s rally navigator, died in 1998 in a mysterious road accident. She now leads a private life as a wealthy widow in Kaimosi, Nandi County.
7. June Moi
She is the last born of Moi’s children and was adopted by the former President. She was active in her father’s 1992 and 1997 political campaigns, before retreating to her businesses in land, property agency and development.
June attended Nairobi Primary, Kenya High School before going to Canada for her university education.
8. Gideon Moi
Is currently the Baringo Senator has been his father’s favorite and an aspiring president in future.
