Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola heap praise on his players and fans

Manchester United and Manchester City has been one of the most feared and highly coveted derbies in the days but that craze is getting out of the hand and losing the essence.

Top plying Manchester City who is the defending champions of the League is a doing their thing right to mount pressure on Liverpool who is top of the league.

As Manchester United recorded their seventh consecutive loss in all matches, Manchester City registered their third win against United in a row which show how the side is getting better against their neighbours.

Pep Guardiola said his Manchester City players had won his “incredible respect” for the way they’ve recovered from going out of the Champions League a week ago.

The Blues crashed out of Europe on away goals in cruel circumstances against Tottenham, but they’ve recovered to beat Spurs in the Premier League on Saturday and now United at Old Trafford.

That 2-0 success, secured with goals from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane, mean City are now three wins away from the Premier League title and Guardiola is delighted with the way his players have bounced back from their Champions League heartbreak.

“That is the most incredible detail for these players. You cannot imagine how tough it was to go out of this beautiful competition when we felt it was there, it was really, really tough,” the City boss said.

“We had Tottenham at home, it wasn’t the best performance, but we had the sunshine, to stay alive in the Premier League when Tottenham didn’t have anything to play for, the pressure we had and the way we reacted. That is sometimes more important.

“Then we come here, our neighbours, the most prestigious team in England, the third time in a row winning with the pressure we had and being there, it was fantastic.

“I would have said the same to the players today if we’d lost. They have my incredible respect. It’s massive what they’ve done this season.

“It’s incredible the mentality and the strength, doing what we have to do. Man City has to be so, so proud of these players.

“We can go with our heads up everywhere, that’s why our fans were great in the Champions League against Tottenham in defeat, then three days later they support us more than they did in the Champions League, that’s because they know we don’t lie, we’re honest in the way we play.”
