Kenya employees are a stressed lot following stringent rules established by their employers while providing no room for workers opinion.

Workers voices through their unions have been quashed hence, developing hazards at the workplace.

Teachers are experiencing a tussle between their union Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT and Education Ministry over the training on the new curriculum system.

Teachers have opposed the planned training on the Competency-based Curriculum (CBC) claiming that no proper paperwork has been done.

According to KNUT secretary general Wilson Sossion, a research conducted by their union has revealed that there exists a huge gap in implementing the competency-based curriculum.

The CBC is a new system of education designed by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) team and launched by the ministry of education in 2017.

The CBC is designed to emphasize the significance of developing skills and knowledge and also applying those competencies to real-life situations.

Kenyan workers teachers included recently protested after the government proposed deducting a 0.5% levy from salaries to fund a National Housing project.

These measures cause the staff to have a stressful work environment reducing their drive to perform better.
