Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Wednesday faced the Senate Committee to respond to questions on why he has failed to appoint a Deputy Governor Since Polycarp Igathe’s resignation.
Sonko, while responding to the questions revealed how he received letters from Raila Odinga-led NASA coalition that made him halt the process of Deputy Governor’s appointment.
As he maintained that there was no legislation to compel him to appoint the DG, Sonko said that as he was about to release another nominee after his first nominee Dr Miguna Miguna was rejected, he received two letters from NASA, in what he has termed as the spirit of the handshake.
Sonko further said that he later received a verbal Communication from Raila.
Sonko says that Raila proposed some names to him which he was to include in his list of nominees.
He says the letters from Raila had been signed by Norman Magaya, the Chief Executive of the NASA coalition.
He says in their first letter NASA proposed the name of Rahab Ndambuki. In the Second letter NASA recommended the name of Jame Murigi Wangui.
