The National Integrated Identity Management System (Niims) registration, also identified as the Huduma Namba registration that has been going on in various parts of the country is now reportedly marred by cases of malpractice by the deployed agents.

Complaints have been risen on Twitter with Kenyans stating that they are being made to pay up to Sh800 to register for the system, in a process that should be absolutely free.

This was raised by blogger Robert Alai, and was followed by similar complaints from different parts of the country.

Nevertheless, the blocking of citizens fro registering as well as slow procedures were also cited.

The grievances were however met by a barely surprised audience, some who said that the abuse of the process “was bound to happen”.

Have you registered for your Huduma Namba yet, was your experience pleasant or a similarly cringey one
