The period of Mourning after the passing of a Loved one is one which should bring and unite people together. In the African setting, this is a period that many people including hostile families always put their differences aside to all but acord the departed the respect he/she deserves.

The death of former President Daniel Arap Moi’s son, Philip Moi seem to have done little to ease the Political tension between Ruto and the Moi’s.

Deputy President William Ruto visits Jonathan Moi's home in Kabimoi, Baringo county, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019

It is now emerging that Deputy President William Ruto did not get to meet former President Moi to condole with him following the death of his son but instead decided to make a trip to Baringo, 54 kms from Kabarak to condole with the late Jonathan Moi’s family.

It still remains unclear why Ruto decided not to seek audience with Moi but if past experiences are anything to go by, the DP might have just played his cards right.

It will be remembered that Last year in May, Ruto was blocked from visiting Moi at his home, an issue that brew a political storm.

Ruto had flown to Moi’s home but failed to meet him after waiting for three hours.
