An American citizen whose two children were killed in Sri Lanka has narrated to CNN his ordeal in the hands of the merciless suicide bombers.
The father says he had taken the risk to travel together with his kids to Sri Lanka, and that the kids were serving buffet at the time of the attack.
A video emerged online showing two suicide bombers accessing the hotel through an elevator, from where they alighted on the 13th floor.
The American says his children had just served him breakfast when the first blast went off.
He saw the children (a daughter and a son) running towards him immediately the first blast went off.
Scared, he was too shattered to move, and before he knew it, another blast went off cutting his children mid-flight.
The next thing he saw was a motionless daughter and a critically injured son.
The american says a group of well wishers helped to transport his children to a local hospital facility from where they were pronounced dead.
The shattered father now thanks the American embassy in Sri Lanka for decisively rescuing him from the island country at the height of the terrorist attack.
He also blames himself for taking the risk of going on a holiday to the Island Asian country with a population of 22.4 million people.
In the attacks, 359 people were killed including 39 foreigners, four Americans and eight Britons.
Some 60 people were arrested and 32 people are still in detention.
