What caused the flicker of a mass scuffle after Chelsea draw with Burnley? Zola opens up

Things did not go well for the four teams fighting for the top four positions over the weekend as all the four teams got failed results over the weekend.

The rains started beating Tottenham in the hands of Manchester City after seeing them out of the Champions League and then Manchester United in the hands of Everton in a result that has never been seen in the history of the club.

It was not different from Arsenal who was expected to pull a surprise after the slip of United but it was not going to like they were expected.

As though that wasn’t enough, Chelsea portrayed a good match but things did not go well with them as they only managed to get a single point in the hands of Burnley in a match that went hay way and the deputy manager was not happy with the way the match was handled.

Gianfranco Zola has revealed the mass brawl after Chelsea draw with Burnley was sparked by something said to fitness coach Paolo Bertelli.

The Blues’ assistant manager was sent out in front of the Sky Sports cameras following ugly scenes between the two benches at the conclusion of the match.

Chelsea legend Zola admitted the decision was made by Maurizio Sarri, who was sent off in the closing moments, as he had “a lot of emotion” but explained what the cause of the dispute was.

“It is a football game and there is a lot of passion,” Zola told Sky Sports.

“We are not happy because of the result and we are not happy because he didn’t play enough and of course we showed all our emotions because we care, they did the same.

“Paolo Bertelli isn’t happy because of some words that were said to him, we will follow on that.

“The rest you cannot expect that we do a game like this it was a big game for us and we cannot go in as nothing happened.”

Zola continued to the BBC: “Sarri was very upset because he has heard not good words towards him from the Burnley bench.

“The only reason he walked over there was to get our players to go into position, he was trying to help the ref. Kevin [Friend] misinterpreted. I’m disappointed, he wanted to help him.”

Chelsea was not impressed by the Clarets’ time wasting as Sean Dyche’s side held out for a 2-2 draw to assist their survival chances.

Jeff Hendrick had opened the scoring for the visitors before N’golo Kante and Gonzalo Higuain hit back – only for Ashley Barnes to level up again.

Zola added: “We wanted to win. They didn’t want to lose.

“We are unhappy. There was too much time wasting. Five minutes of injury time wasn’t enough to compensate. We couldn’t build an important rhythm.

“We were hoping for something more. We are determined to fight until the end. This team are playing good football. We need to improve but we’re in a good way. We care as we showed today.

“We expected it to be a tough game. We didn’t expect so much time wasting. We expected Kevin [Friend, referee] to give more extra time. That’s why we’re very unhappy.”
