The German World Cup winner was signed from Valencia for 35 million pounds, a record amount from Arsenal for a defender. A lot was expected from him and in the first few months, things were going as planned. However, as days went by, his real self was slowly manifesting in the eyes of the Arsenal fans.

Mustafi is an error prone defender who makes mistakes that seen his children would have a hard time explaining! His error in Arsenal’s loss to Crystal Palace was the latest in a series of brain farts that have lost Unai Emery’s men precious points this season. He will surely be playing football elsewhere next season.

Gervinho

The Ivory Coast international was as frustrating as his choice of hairstyle was disturbing! Blessed with lighting pace and great dribbling skills,he could beat an entire defence only for him to freeze when up against the goalkeeper. The chances he missed while at the club would have made one question his ability as a footballer.

Arsene Wenger clearly got it wrong on this one and was fast to notice his mistake, selling him after only 3 seasons at the club.

Sebastian Squillaci

For a man who played as a central defender during his playing days, Arsene Wenger’s choices while buying defenders were puzzling to say the least. Sebastian was already on the wrong side of 30 when Wenger signed him but age should not be a problem when you are a good footballer, right? Well, This guy was as bad as they get and was getting roasted by the Premier League attackers at their own will.

His stay at the club coincided with the team’s worst defensive performances and was ultimately let go after only 2 seasons.
