Man United legend bets on Ajax to beat Tottenham

Now 35, Robin van Persie is enjoying the final years of his esteemed career at Feyenoord.

Feyenoord are third in the Eredivisie, while van Persie is the joint-fourth highest scorer in the league on 16 goals.

This week the former Arsenal and Man United attacker has given an interview with Algemeen Dagblad.

Part of the discussion was focused on Ajax, who has defied expectations reaching the Champions League semifinal.

Remember, Ajax started their Champions League campaign in the first round of the qualifiers.

Feyenoord beat Ajax 6-2 earlier in the season, and van Persie discussed what it was like playing against the Amsterdam rival:

That worked out that afternoon. Everything clicked.

Yes, we beat Ajax 6-2 . So we would beat Juventus 11-2 [laughs].

And yes, Spurs will now of course view the images of our match against Ajax

Ajax are favourites vs Tottenham

Van Persie also revealed his belief that Ajax are favourites to beat Tottenham to reach the final.

RVP believes Spurs are at a major disadvantage because Harry Kane is injured:

I missed most of Ajax against Juve. I was at the Najib Amhali show. But I did watch Spurs against City. That was better than a fantastic film.

Ajax is now a favourite, because Spurs plays without Kane.

Robin van Persie’s possible England return

Van Persie is officially retiring at the end of the season.

So what’s next for the Dutch international legend? He told AD:

I want to take a year off first. I’ll go watch my daughter’s horseback riding and my son’s football .

Maybe I will do television work in the Netherlands or England. Maybe not.
