whenever a cargo truck overturns, people rush to the scene, not with the aim of saving the driver but eyeing the valuables that the track could be carrying. But at mai mahiu, things turned out different when the expectations of villagers were turned down after a lorry overturned.
Drama ensued in Mai Mahiu after a lorry ferrying salt from Mombasa to Western Kenya overturned spilling the products.
As usual Members of the public scrambled for the product not knowing it was salt. later they realized it was salt and they dumped it with lots of disappointment.
The lorry lost control along the Limuru-Mai Mahiu road and landed into a ditch near Italian Catholic church.
However, no one was injured as the driver and his counterpart escaped the death.
A witness Joseph Njoroge people rushed in the scene and by the time police arrived many of them had made away with well-packed salt before realizing what it was.
“On realizing that what they had looted was salt which is worthless many dumped it by the roadside before police moved in to control the situation,” he said.
