The Nakuru strange dam that has been claiming boys

A swimming adventure turned tragic for Naivasha residents after one of their own drowned when swimming with friends.

According to local reports, the group of friends were swimming in a newly constructed dam before one of them succumbed to excess water levels.

Moses Waithaka, a resident, told Radio Africa that it was norm for boys to swim in the dam on weekends adding that this was the first time they had recorded such an incident.

He said that two of the boys tried to save their colleague but they were also overwhelmed as the dam is very big and deep.

“Members of the public who heard the screams rushed to the dam and managed to rescue two of the boys while one drowned,” he said.

Area Chief Samuel Ng’ang’a confirmed the incident adding that the body was retrieved hours later and taken to Naivasha mortuary.

“We are asking parents to monitor the movements of the children during this holiday to avoid such incidents in the future,” he said.

Elsewhere, police in Murang’a have arrested a woman over her husband’s death.

The 47-year-old woman allegedly hacked her husband using a panga, set his body on fire and attempted to bury his remains outside their home in Good Samaritan village, Gatanga early Saturday morning after a domestic dispute.

Murang’a County police boss Josphat Kinyua said three of the woman’s children are suspected have had a hand in the murder.

Mr Kinyua said the woman and the three teenage girls are in police custody.

James Ndirangu, a brother of the victim said that he was attracted to the homestead by huge flames only to find the suspect digging a hole using a jembe and a spade.
