Oparanya Explains Why His 2022 Presidential Bid Is not Disloyalty to Raila

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya recently expressed 2022 presidential ambitions saying thathe is in talks with ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto to back him.

Oparanya said he had asked Raila not to run in 2022 and support him because the ODM leader has failed four times to capture the top seat.

His announcement raised questions on his loyalty to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga who is allegedly expected to vie.

While speaking to Journalists, Oparanya his ambition to vie doesn’t mean that he is disloyal to his party and party leader Raila Odinga.

“One’s political ambition need not be inconsistent to his or her loyalty to the party and its leadership. I am part of the leadership of ODM and trust in the party democratic systems to manage the ambitions of its members”.

In any case, one’s candidature on a particular party ticket is a result of a process, which follows each candidate’s declaration of interest. I have declared mine and look forward to the support of the party”, he added.
