Nyeri Town Flooded with Money after Ruto’s visit

Businesses in Nyeri town are counting huge profits after the visit of Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday.

Ruto was accompanied by a battery of politicians during the celebration of the Holy Week Service at the African Independent Pentecostal Church (AIPCA) in Muthuaini.

And high end hotels in the town were fully booked a day to the visit, with senior politicians spending the night in the town.

It has been rumored that Ruto has been spending lots of money to bribe MPs and this is the reason why so many accompany him on functions. It was not different during his Nyeri visit with more than 10 lawmakers accompanying him.

Most of the money found its way in the pockets of several businessmen in the town who provided services ranging from hospitality, to even meeting rooms and other merchandise.

The Tanga Tanga team, which is a faction of the Jubilee Party, has been accused by some quarters of only following Ruto because of his money. But who doesn’t love money anyway?

In Nyeri, even Ngunjiri Wambugu, Ruto’s chief critic was present on Thursday.

Ruto enjoys support from a majority of the Mt. Kenya MPs and this is one of the reasons why President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga had to postpone their April tour in the region.

Most Kenyans believe that all politicians are looters of public funds, but they love Ruto because some of the money finds its way in the pockets of the common Mwananchi.

Acheni Ruto aitwe Ruto.
