Popular Gospel Artist Reuben Kigame has called upon the nation to unite in prayer for rain amid drought crisis.

Kigame says that people are used to complaining but  he feels that instead, they should be ready for prayers to mop out the evil in this nation.

“We have pointed fingers and, yes, our leaders are corrupt, but are we clean before the Lord ourselves? Are we really ready for this prayer mobilization or will it sweep you along? Are you blaming the leaders for destroying the environment but you do the same? Do you blame people for stealing millions or billions but you are guilty of thousands or hundreds you have taken illegally?” he questioned

He also revealed that he had resisted saying anything about the current drought in Kenya and had hoped that no one will have to prompt pastors, priests, bishops, apostles and prophets on the matter of calling a national day of prayer to beseech God for rain.

His disappointment is  in the fact that spiritual leaders have been so busy with church programs that they have been silent to speak about the drought situation.

Unfortunately he says that even as the spiritual leaders remain silent, planting is delayed, water sources are exhausted and meteorologists continue to report on the progress of the situation.

Reuben Kigame implies that the spiritual leaders are is slumber and might not be doing what is expected of them.

He also added that a national day of prayer is important since God may answer and reverse the calamity and it is also a biblical way of going about the situation.

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14).Thus says the Lord.

Reuben also called upon all political leaders to also mobilize people and spare time for prayer. Although he says he is not a prophet, he believes that God has spoken to him on this matter.

Kigame said that the prayers will be kicking off from tonight at midnight to Thursday.

His advise to Kenyans is that they join the fast and prayer or else they will have to face the consequences.
