Police ask for reinforcement to arrest Mombasa county officials

All is not well in Kenya as our leaders are leading in orchestrations of most crimes seen on local dailies headlines.

To add insult to injury, two officials reportedly stuped so low as to hide in the same building where they let down Kenyans to avoid facing justice.

Mombasa county Finance Executive Maryam Mbaruk and her Chief Officer Aisha Abdi on Wednesday locked themselves in their offices to avoid arrest.

The activities at the county came to a standstill as police officers tried to affect the court order and arrest the two officials.

Police were unable to arrest the two and asked for reinforcement, The delay in their arrival allowed the two to sneak out escaping arrest.

The court had ordered that the two county official jailed for contempt of court after they failed to pay a lawyer his legal fees amounting to Sh18 Million even after a court order.

The county lawyers had committed to pay the lawyer within 60 days and they failed to do so. The payment was part of what Mombasa county owed him for his fees.

“These are services rendered during the defunct Mombasa Municipality. According to the law, the county inherited both the assets and liabilities,” Malombe told reporters.
