The Hidden Side of the Housing Levy Tax That Nobody is Talking About

The law that has been put in place to Protect the housing Levy has left Kenyans scratching their heads.

In the scrutiny of the regulations put in place by the government to prevent theft from the affordable housing project, Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has noted that the law in place show that CS Macharia and Attorney General Paul Kihara know who will win the tender and who will steal the money after failing to deliver.

“When CS Macharia and AG Kihara make this kind of law…they have a good idea who will win the TENDER and who will steal the money after failing to deliver…this is what OWNERSHIP of state apparatus entails,” Ahmednasir has tweeted.

Offenses and penalties; 25. A person who misappropriates any funds or assets of the Housing Fund, or assets or causes any person to misappropriate or apply the funds otherwise other than in the manner provided in these regulations, commits an offence and shall, upon conviction be liable to imprisonment for a term of two years or to a fine not exceeding ten thousand shillings or to both.

But is this viable? Could you imagine one looting billions from the project with a surety of paying Ksh 10,000 only?

Kenyans have turned against CS Macharia for coming up with such a law in protection of the billions that will be collected from the temporarily suspended housing project.
