After a dramatic defeat of Manchester City by Tottenham at Etihad stadium, eyes now shifts to weekend’s Premier League show where the two teams will meet again at the same venue.
Mauricio Pochettino often complained of the Premier League scheduling hampering Tottenham’s chances in Europe.
They had the upper hand over City here, a free weekend before the first leg and an extra day ahead of tonight.
But that will matter little come Saturday afternoon when it all starts again here at the Etihad a third meeting between the sides in just over a week.
The Tottenham squad was thin enough before tonight’s grueling encounter. Sissoko is likely lost to injury and the mental and physical toll take will be significant.
Add to that the need to refocus so soon after such celebrations at Saturday seems a near impossible task.
City have the depth, and the carrot of a Premier League title race to pick themselves up again. That will be Pochettino’s only concern as they fly south tonight.
