As president Uhuru Kenyatta calls on politicians to stop the campaign on politics of succession,this may not yield a result as majority of politicians seems ready to continue with the discussion.
While speaking in Nakuru County politicians who rally behind the deputy president William Ruto claimed that the clarion call is meant to kill some politicians political career ahead of 2022 election.
The politicians castigated interior cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi of trying to seek political relevance by trimming them their security details.
A source from Nyamira has hinted that Matiang’i is plotting to run for a gubernatorial seat comes 2022.
Earlier a section of leaders from Kisii County endorsed Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i for the Deputy President’s seat in the next General Election.
leaders said Dr. Matiang’i had an impressive track record, hence, he is fit to be the country’s second in command.
Jubilee nominated Senator Millicent Omanga and South Mugirango legislator Silvanus Osoro appealed to any leader seeking the electorate’s support for the presidential position in 2022 to first consider having Matiang’i as their running mate.
“William Ruto is assured of winning the Presidency in 2022 with our brother Fred Matiang’i as the Deputy President, they make a good combination since they are both workaholics,” said Senator Omanga.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who has declared interest to contest for the presidency in 2022 has been quoted saying he will pick Matiangi’i as his running mate.
Political analysts argue that Matiang’i style of leadership is very impressive and can help to transform the country.
Mwangi Mbuthia politician cum analyst states that if Matiangi plot to run for any political seat he will due to his outstanding performance.
“Matiang’i is a performer and everyone knows this,if he takes to competitive politics he win have it early in the morning,”he said.
Recently president Uhuru appointed him as the super cabinet secretary to oversee the operations of the ministry.
The issue was contested by politicians allied to the DP whom they accuse Uhuru of undermining his deputy.
