Nominated senator Isaac Mwaura report that Waititu colluded with Chinese to award direct contract without outsourcing has left traders worried whether the governor was serious with the project.

Mwaura claims the over 3, 000 traders were kicked out by Kiambu County and Kenha teams to pave way for a Chinese investor to put up business premises.

At a Ruiru Church event attended by Deputy President William Ruto and Kiambu Governor Ferdinard Waititu, Mwaura claimed Kiambu government is using Public Private Partnership deal to dispose of the land.

Waititu, however, defended himself. “Nobody has been kicked out of Githurai. We are putting up a market worth about Sh2.7 billion. And this money is now available. The contractor is ready to start the work” Waititu claimed.

Mwaura alleged he confronted Waititu on the Chinese investor issue. “I challenged Waititu who introduced him (Chinese) last week to a hostile reception, since there are no concrete plans on how to relocate the traders”.

Church faithful applauded Mwaura as he went on bashing Kiambu government and Waititu.

“Who is the owner of the land in question? Is it the national government or the county government? How will the current traders be accommodated in the new plan? How long will the project take to complete? And Where will the traders be resettled as the market is being built?” Mwaura charged.

Ruto who appeared to steer clear the issue said there was pledge to put a proper market at Githurai 45, a promise he claimed Jubilee government will honor.
