Writing on the wall; Plot to tame Tanga Tanga generals offing in Parliament

The political heat in Kenya is exploding beyond measure and control just in less than two years after the general elections in 2017 and more than three years into the next one in 2022 which is uncalled for.

The politicking seems not to be sinking well with the President who is in to write himself a legacy as he comes to the end of his two terms in the Presidency office.

Many argue it is the reason as to why he is taking on the politicing class who are seeing to be rallying behind the Deputy President who has been moving around a lot drumming for support in the upcoming elections.

It is believed that 20 more Members of Parliament allied the Tanga Tanga movement of Deputy President William Ruto are set to lose their state security with some being stripped of powerful positions in the house.

The prevailing political wave according to a local newspaper is a clear indication that the looming shakeup is because the House’s leaders are seen to be more loyal to Ruto than President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“The President is very angry, especially with MPs from his backyard. He is focused on building his legacy, but there are leaders who have consistently defied his calls to focus their energies on the development and not 2022 presidential politics,” a confidant of the president told a local newspaper.

Tiaty MP William Kamket also hinted at a meeting in Nairobi of the looming purge in Parliament.

“Time for talk is over. For those who are not following what the president is saying, they should begin their journey out of government.

“Since the Deputy President is protected by the Constitution and cannot be sacked, his generals, beginning with the Leader of Majority in the Senate, Leader of Majority in the National Assembly and some committee chairpersons, should leave immediately,” Kamket revealed.

On Saturday, the government withdrew security attached to Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa and Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri.

The above-mentioned politicians are seen to be loyal supporters of the DP and accompany him in a lot of his tours within the country.

When contacted, Waititu stated that no explanation had been offered to him as to why some of his officers were withdrawn.

“Yes my security and that of Ichungwa have been withdrawn,” Governor Waititu told a local media in a short text message without elaborating.

Ichungwa on his part responded that  “This is a political move to intimidate and coerce me after a series of threats to my life so that I stop working with the Deputy President.”
