Qualities that are making Victor Lindelof a frequent starter at United

Manchester United is going a slow come back into the game after the entry of a new manager who is bringing in a new squad.

But one of the stars that have been impressive is Victor Lindelof from the defensive side who has enjoyed a high percentage of starts like any other player.

With continued play, the star is going to cement his name for the starting first eleven thus a reason for the club for him to stay longer in the club as it seeks to get more players in every front.

Former Manchester United winger Jesper Blomqvist has heaped the praise on his fellow countryman Victor Lindelof and tipped him for greatness.

Lindelof had a difficult start to life at United under Jose Mourinho after his £30m transfer from Benfica in the summer of 2017.

However, under the stewardship of new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Lindelof has grown into United’s most important centre-back after growing accustom to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old is now showing why United splashed the cash to bring him to Old Trafford and his fellow Swede Blomqvist couldn’t be happier about it.

“I made an interview when he signed and I said you have to give him a little bit of time,” Blomqvist told PA Sport.

“But he has especially what I think is the mental strength to really become a great player. And that is the most important thing.”

Blomqvist, who represented United between 1998 and 2001 and made 38 appearances, has also pointed out the positive aspects to Lindelof’s game.

“Then he also has other attributes that I think will fit at United for a central defender: he is very confident with the ball and he is very fast as well, and strong one-against-one,” he said.

“I think he’s shown all that now and the more he plays now, the stronger and better he will be, and more confident he will get.

“The way he has been playing and improving this season has been fantastic and I’ve been really proud as a Swede to see him play for United.

“I think he has been absolutely brilliant.”
