Jack Ma Defends 12-hour working day System

In most cases, employees would complain of working for too long, if the schedule is set to cover 8-9 hours. However, the most successful people in life have maintained the culture of waking up early and going to bed late to maximize the working hours.

A good example is a Chinese billionaire and co-founder of the online shopping giant Alibaba who has continued to support a9 am to 9 pm working day, and a six-day week calling it a “Blessing”. Unlike many other working schedules which feature 8-9 hou r working days, Jack Ma’ believes in 12- hour working day.

However, Jack Ma’s stand on the so-called “996 system” has stirred a hot debate on Chinese media. The 996 system simply means working from 9 am to 9 pm, 6 days a week. These would be 12hours a day for six days every week. can casual workers working in a production line put up with this kind of schedule?

Last week, Mr. Ma wrote that without the “996 system”, China’s economy was “very likely to lose vitality and impetus”.

His views were backed by fellow tech entrepreneur Richard Liu, the boss of e-commerce giant JD.com. But what do we say? the birds of the same feather flock together.

On Friday, Mr Ma called the opportunity to work 996 hours a “blessing”.

Mr. Ma co-founded Alibaba, also called China’s eBay, in 1999 and has seen it become one of the world’s biggest internet companies.

The company’s market value is now approximately $490bn (£374bn), and Mr Ma’s personal wealth is estimated at around $40bn.

Last year, he announced that he would step down as executive chairman in the near future.
