A 48-year-old man identified as Patrick Ambaza has left Lugari residents in shock after he set his house on fire and threw himself inside after a quarrel with his wife.
It is said that Ambaza had sent threatening messages to his wife asking her to travel to Nairobi immediately where he was working.
His wife who did not have fare at that time sold some household items to raise the urgently required money but before she could even leave, Ambaza arrived unannounced, set the house on fire and took poison before throwing himself inside.
Area OCPD Patrick Maundu has said that the man was HIV positive and had health issues.
The family is now appealing to well-wishers to help them construct another house.
