NAIVASHA: Where School-kids Stumble on Dead Bodies

The lynching of a man in whose house was found a missing 9-year-old boy’s body was found has brought to the fore the scary memories of Kinamba, Naivasha.

Kinamba has for a very long time been a dumping zone for bodies of people either killed in the area or elsewhere.

In 2017, a report by a local daily indicated that residents wake up to a number of bodies every month.

The bodies are usually discovered by school-going children who pass along the roads and pathways on their way to school.

Reports from Naivasha Sub-County hospital reveals several bodies are dumped in the area, with a number of them not having identification documents.

After months of no claims, the bodies are said to end up in mass graves in Naivasha.

β€œThe bodies are brought to Naivasha as this is the only public facility along the highway and this has taken a toll on our services,” remarked the hospital’s Superintendent Mr Joseph Mburu in an earlier interview.

He said that some of the bodies are quietly identified by relatives who then pick them up for burial.

He also noted that some of the cases highlighted in the media lead to faster identification by family members.

The Naivasha-Nairobi highway remains a dumping ground for dead bodies, with most having been strangled and a couple others having bullet wounds.
