World’s Best Teacher Tabichi Wins globally again, to champion 75 million children education

Word’s best teacher Kenyan teacher Peter Tabichi is winning globally again.

The Ksh100 Million Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize winner is will now be working alongside international A-list superstars, Will Smithand Rachel Brosnahan, as an ambassador for Education Cannot Wait Foundation.

Education Cannot Wait is a global fund for education in crisis and Tabichi will be expected to champion for 75 million children whose education is disrupted with conflicts and natural disasters worldwide.

The Standard reported that the humble teacher was overjoyed with the news and vowed to do his best to achieve the goals of his new cause.

“It is heart-breaking to know that 75 million children around the world see their educational chances disrupted by conflict and natural disasters. Education Cannot Wait is doing vital work to make sure these children are not left behind.

“It will be my great honour to help them ensure children whose lives have been blighted by war and catastrophe are given their birthright; a decent education,” expressed the teacher.

He further revealed that he experienced student’s hardship in his own day to day life since some of his students are affected by hunger and poverty.

“The students I teach see true hardships every day, from poverty to drought and hunger. But I also see in them raw talent and great creativity, hard work, a determination to defy the odds, and be the best they can be. Every child, everywhere in the world deserves the chance to fulfill their full potential,” he continued.

Former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who Chair of Education Cannot Wait’s High-Level Steering Group, praised Tabichi stating that his story inspires teachers and learners and that he looked forward to working with him.

By winning the prestigious 2019 Global Teacher Prize, Tabichi the Mathematics and Physics teacher at Keriko Secondary School in Nakuru became the first African to win the prize.
