People Power! Bobi Wine reaffirms his bid for Presidency

Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu also known as Bobi Wine, is a Ugandan politician, businessman, he was arrested for illegal possession of arms last year in late August 2018, and was held at the army barracks unlawfully.

The 36-year-old Kyaddondo East MP Bobi Wine said he was working on a coalition with other opposition parties as well as opposition politician Mugisha Muntu to help him champion for the Ugandan poor and disenfranchised popularising the mantra “People Power, Our Power.”

Ugandan popstar turned opposition politician Bobi Wine has confirmed his intention to run for president in the country’s next elections slated for 2021. “Yes, I and my team are considering challenging Museveni in the next presidential election,” he said.

The musician said that opposition parties needed to overcome their differences and unite if they want to try and defeat President Yoweri Museveni who has been in power for 33 years.

Wine: “It’s the governance question that we want to solve and we cannot solve that until we get into leadership ourselves.” Taking to Instagram, he shared snippets of his interview with the German press outlet urging Uganda youth to register to vote ahead of the 2021 elections.

He added that “we are not making it very easy for ourselves to overcome the oppression. I’ve said some time ago that some members of the opposition are only concerned about their positions and they’ll find any composition that threatens their positions.”

Wine said he thought that freedom of expression was “the most important right, especially in the civilized world, to express oneself without hurting anybody.”
