Nyandarua engaging Germans to construct potato pack house

Nyandarua County government has hinted of an arrangement with a German firm to construct a potato pack house that will enable farmers to store their produce fresh and in the hygienic environment for a longer period.

Badische Anilin- und Soda-Fabrik (BASF), a German leading chemical company will erect the modern warehouse at Ol Kalou town from October once the Memorandum of Understanding is sealed.

Governor Francis Kimemia held talks with BASF Africa Vice-President Dr. Michael Gotsche today alongside members of Kenya Investment Authority (KIA).

Kimemia said the packed house will supplement planned construction of potato processing and cold storage factories that are set to be built from April.

“Nyandarua’s potential is unexploited and the opportunities available are immense,” Kimemia said after the meeting.

Gotsche said they will develop the pack house with the best technology and innovation available.
