The son of Nipsey Hussle’s fiancée ended up speaking at his father’s memorial service in one of the sweetest and most tender moments of the service.
Lauren London’s nine-year-old son Cameron Carter, whom she shares with ex Lil Wayne, took to the mic as he recalled a haunting dream.
‘I realized that Ermias told me what heaven was like, he told me it was paradise,’ Carter said about Hussle, as he stood next to his mother during the funeral.
Around 20,000 mourners gathered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to remember Nipsey, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom.
He was shot and killed outside his clothing store on March 31.
London brought the children on-stage as she delivered an emotional eulogy. Carter spoke confidently and clearly as he held the mic.
On the night of April 2nd, I had a dream. I was in paradise and I was playing in the ocean water when Ermias popped up right behind me. He said, ‘What up Killa?’ cause that’s my nickname to him.
‘I turned around, yelled his name and gave him a hug. Shortly after he was gone but it was still cool I guess.’
Cameron continued: ‘I told my mum about the dream and after I told her I was thinking about. Ermias told me what heaven was like, he told me it was paradise.’
Cameron continued before leading the crowd to all say, ‘Respect,’ out loud.
After speaking to the gathered crowd, the son that Hussle and London share, Kross, held the microphone briefly murmuring into it as the crowd responded with cheers.
However, Nipsey’s daughter Emani was too overwhelmed to speak to the large auditorium and turned her back away from the audience.
London, 34, tried to gently encourage her step-daughter, saying: ‘She doesn’t want to. Just say thank you. You don’t have to look at them, look at us,’ but Emani replied: ‘I’m scared.’
The actress then said to the audience: ‘Give the kids some love they’re a little nervous.’
London paid tribute to Hussle on Instagram last week pictures of the couple together with their family.
‘I am completely lost,’ London wrote. ‘I’ve lost my best friend, my sanctuary, my protector, my soul. We are lost without you babe — I have no words.’
After the memorial service she revealed her tattoo of her lover’s face on her arm to the surprise of many.
Hussle died from gunshot wounds to both the head and torso, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed last Monday.
Eric Holder, 29, has since been charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County’s District Attorney’s Office.
